This subject is a full year (2 units) choice subject and builds on the learning in year 8 Students use an activity based approach to study written and spoken German or Japanese, focusing on their ability to communicate. The culture, economy, and geography of Germany or Japan are also included in the course.
Some Language topics include:
Detailed self-description including likes and dislikes
Asking and giving directions
Shopping and eating in Germany or Japan
Describing daily routines
Assessment is formative and summative - reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, as well as understanding of language and culture are assessed.
This subject is a full year (2 units) choice subject extending the learning in year 9 and preparing students for Stage 1 SACE German or Japanese. This course extends on learning from year 9. Some language topics include:
The city; naming buildings, asking and giving directions
Food; shopping and asking for items
The body; naming the parts and talking about illnesses. -appropriate grammar
Travel; revising countries and learning how to travel, vehicle names-appropriate new verbs.
Learning about self; birthdays, personal descriptions, free time, relationships
Assessment is both formative and summative and includes conversation, oral presentation, correspondence and written responses to determine understanding of language and culture.
